Five Coolsculpting Tips You Need to Know

Weigh in with knowledge on this trending dinner party topic: CoolSculpting.

At Rhett Women’s Center, our Coolsculpting Specialist is Michelle Polhaumus. She is an ultrasonographer, the right hand to Drs. Rhett and Smith in the surgery center, and overall care coordinator to many long-term patients. Her latest role as a highly trained Coolsculpting Specialist is prompting women and men alike to eliminate fat from stubborn areas of the body in our Coolsculpting suite.

We talked to Michelle and she shared these five Coolsculpting tips to use when considering the treatment:

Tip Number 1: Dual Rules
Dual sculpting allows you to target more than one area at the same time. Results are achieved faster and evenly. Try adding the cool mini to address smaller areas such as arms and chin with dual sculpting.

Tip Number 2: It Really Works
FDA approved in 2010, this noninvasive alternative to liposuction has proven time again that it can and does sculpt the body. CoolSculpting procedures use rounded paddles in one of four sizes to suction your skin and fat. The cooling panels set to work crystallizing your fat cells. The more treatments you have, the more results you will see.  An up to 25 percent fat reduction in a treatment area creates improvements, such as less bulging, of any particular area that’s concerning.

Tip Number 3: Perfect in a Pinch
Coolsculpting is a treatment for those patients looking for mild improvements. It’s not designed for one-stop-shop major fat removal.  In a complimentary consultation, Rhett Women’s Center assesses each patient for skin quality and how it will rebound after volume is removed. We also look at how thick or “pinchable” the tissue is. The Coolsculpting suction panels can only treat the tissue it can access. If you can pinch the fat between your thumb and forefinger, that is a good test of whether the patient will see results.  Thick, firm tissue that is not “pinchable” will not respond as well.

Tip Number 4: Count Backwards
If you have a special occasion such as a wedding or the holidays for which you hope to see the Coolsculpting results, count backwards at least 6 weeks. Ideally, schedule you session three months in advance. Results are not visible for at least four weeks, with the fat loss reaching its peak at eight to ten weeks. If planning on more than one treatment to an area, wait six weeks before the second treatment.

Tip Number 5: Price Shop
Not all Coolsculpting is created equal. Rhett Women’s Center has some of the best pricing in the area. We invite you to schedule a Coolsculpting consultation and compare.  Consultations are free and they allow us to assess if you are candidate and the number of areas needed. Once areas are determined, a price can be given. Existing patients receive special pricing consideration.
